After obtaining his flute- and saxophone teachers certificate Hans Kuijt received his
master’s diploma on baritone saxophone with Cum Laude honours.
In doing this he was one of the first saxophonists in the Netherlands.
His teacher was Henk van Twillert.
The fact that he took the exam playing the baritone does not in any way diminish his
enthusiasm for the other types of saxophone.
For the family of saxes he arranged and played one of the most beautiful works of Astor Piazzolla:
“ The Four Seasons “. Each movement is played on a different type of sax.
Hans also was the main founder of the saxophone quartet “ L ‘ Imprévu “ with which he won
the much coveted “ Vriendenkrans “ prize of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
At the moment he takes part in several chamber music groups for which he likes to arrange
different kinds of music.
But, in the end, combining saxophone and piano together with Petra Luteijn
still remains one of his most favourite ways of making music.
His passion for playing and music as a whole is also reflected in his other passion: for teaching.
He teaches at the Barneveld Music School where he has built up a saxophone orchestra called
“ Saxus “ . The whole range of saxophones is present and there are forty players.
